Dr. Oz and Tony Horton team up today to reshape your body. Fans of P90X and Bring It! know Tony Horton well, and now he has something new to offer his audience which he premieres w/ Dr. Oz.
Tony Horton?s new program combines the practice of yoga with Pilates and strength training to provide what he calls the ultimate workout to sculpt our bodies. He places a big emphasis on variety in this new program as people (and their bodies) tend to get bored doing the same movements over and over again. That?s why Tony?s program lasts for 90 days ? it?s 3 phases lasts 30 days each. The first phase, the Adaptive Phase, allows you to get to know the new program. The second phase, the Mastery Phase, allows you get used to the program and you should be able to see changes in your body here. The final phase, the Recovery Phase, allows the program to become a regular, routine part of your life. (Pretty much self-explanatory here.)
But it?s not just about the exercise, as both Dr. Oz and Tony Horton set up a 90/10 Diet for us to succeed even more to reshape our bodies. Ideally, 90% of our diet should be from the healthy parts of the food pyramid like fruits, veggies, and lean meats. Tony calls these foods ?clean foods? as they tend to not have any preservatives or added chemicals. He adds that the best foods to have in our diets and on our shopping lists are foods that have only one ingredient (for example yogurt is a better choice over ice cream).
The other 10% should be made up of those sugary sweets we know and love. Tony calls these ?dirty foods? and the best part of it is we can have some everyday as long as we?re having three healthy square meals a day. He says we can have a piece of candy or a baked good if we can do that. If you can?t have three healthy meals in everyday, Tony has a protein shake you can try out to save some time. Just ?reshake? these to reshape your bod:?1/2 scoop whey protein powder, 1/2 cup of berries, 1/2 cup of cashews, 1/2 banana, 4 oz. of almond milk, and 8 oz. of coconut water.
Now we move on to the topic of the existence of heaven as proposed by Dr. Eben Alexander. Dr. Alexander, a neurosurgeon and author of ?Proof of Heaven?, has had a near-death experience himself. Eben had a rare type of bacterial meningitis in the brain and that had put him in a coma. He says what happened to him in that coma is proof that heaven exists. He says that he saw puffy clouds, floating amongst them on wings next to a woman he believes to be his guardian angel (it sounds a bit Hollywood to me).
Alexander?s medical training made him doubt his own experiences until he started doing some intensive study of his family history. After some time, Dr. Alexander discovered he had been adopted and found out about a long lost sister named Betsy who had passed away years earlier. Upon seeing Betsy?s photo, Dr. Alexander that it was her face he saw when was in a coma. Dr. Oz is quite skeptical of this himself and asks if maybe it was all just an illusion. Eban states he only really had a 10% chance of surviving his condition, and has changed his perspective on death forever. What do you believe? Let us know in the comments below.
That?s the show for today. More to come tomorrow.
